Meditation Techniques for Tarot Cards and Spreads

Meditation has long been recognized as a powerful tool for introspection and self-discovery. When combined with the art of Tarot reading, this practice can deepen your understanding of the cards and offer profound insights into your personal journey. In this blog post, we will explore effective techniques for meditating on specific tarot cards and spreads.

When you embark on your Tarot meditation, the first step is to thoroughly observe the card or spread. Each card is imbued with unique symbolism and energy, which can greatly influence your meditative experience. When combined with the art of Tarot reading, this practice can deepen your understanding of the cards and offer profound insights. In this blog post, I shared my own technique.

Once you have the tarot card or spread you want to meditate, follow these steps to enhance your experience:

  • Create a Calm Environment: Find a quiet space where you can relax without distractions. It can help to light candles or burn incense to set the mood, but the main thing is for you to feel comfortable.

  • Center Yourself: Begin by taking deep breaths, focusing on your inhales and exhales. This helps clear your mind and prepare you for meditation.

  • Focus on the Card: Hold the chosen Tarot card in your hands, or place it in front of you. Carefully observe every detail on the card: the imagery, colors, symbols, and any small, hidden elements. Allow yourself to become fully immersed in the card's visual message.

  • Allow the Card to Speak to You: After closing your eyes, bring the image of the card or spread to mind. Let the card or cards come alive! What do they say, do they say anything, or do they play out a situation? How do they relate to the question you pulled them for? Don't worry if the message doesn't seem clear at first – the wisdom of Tarot often reveals itself on deeper levels.

  • Conclude Your Meditation: After spending adequate time with the card, gently bring your focus back to the present. Take a few deep breaths and express gratitude for the insights you gained during the meditation. It's important to remember that whatever you receive, and no matter how unconnected the messages might seem to your question, believe me, there's always a connection. Perhaps the querent is only telling half-truths, but the card is "not stupid" and sees the whole situation. It knows what's going on.

A typical scenario is in a career context, when asked "when will I get the promotion?", and cards appear that we don't understand in relation to the situation. It then turns out the querent has already used every possible undermining tactic to get the appointment. And we don't understand why the 8 of Cups, the Queen of Swords, and the 3 of Swords come up. It's because there's a secret (Queen of Swords), which is about stopping behavior that causes pain to others (3 of Swords) (8 of Cups). Because everything comes to the attention of superior leader (Queen of Swords). Want to know why are things happening with you over and over again?
